On-Metal RFID Tags Manufacturer
RFIDEcho manufactures on-metal RFID tags — also called RFID anti-metal tags — engineered to deliver reliable read performance when mounted directly on steel, aluminium, and other conductive surfaces that would detune or block a standard RFID inlay, ideal for IT equipment and tool tracking in metal cabinets, racks, and toolboxes. The anti-metal layer, typically a ferrite absorber or PCB spacer, isolates the antenna from the metal substrate, restoring read range to usable levels without adhesive standoffs or complex mounting brackets. Our range covers slim PCB-based tags, ceramic-encased tags for high-temperature industrial environments, and epoxy-potted variants for outdoor infrastructure and heavy machinery, available with UHF EPC Gen2, HF ISO 15693, or NFC chipsets. Custom dimensions, adhesive types, mounting hole patterns, and enclosure materials are supported for OEM integrations and large-scale deployments.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Metal is conductive, so when a standard RFID antenna is placed against a metal surface, induced currents detune the antenna and reduce its effective read range to near zero. Anti-metal tags address this by incorporating an absorber or spacer layer between the antenna and the metal surface.
-
Yes — on-metal RFID asset tags are one of the most common applications for this range. The anti-metal layer lets the tag be mounted directly on metal toolboxes, racks, machinery, and IT equipment while keeping a usable read range, feeding directly into <a href="/solutions/rfid-asset-tracking/">RFID asset tracking</a> systems for tool and equipment inventories.
-
Our anti-metal tags are validated on steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, and galvanised surfaces. Highly curved surfaces may require specific tag geometries — contact us with your surface radius for a recommendation.
-
Depending on the tag model and reader power, UHF anti-metal tags achieve 0.5–5m on flat metal surfaces. Slim PCB tags in dense IT environments typically read at 0.5–1.5m; larger epoxy-potted tags in open industrial environments reach 3–5m.
-
Standard epoxy-potted tags are rated to 85°C. Ceramic-encased variants withstand continuous operation at up to 220°C and short-term exposure to 300°C, suitable for foundry, smelting, and automotive paint oven environments.
-
3M industrial adhesive (acrylic, double-coated) is standard for most tags. High-temperature adhesives rated to 200°C, structural epoxy for permanent bonding, and screw-mount variants with pre-drilled holes are available for specific environments.
-
Yes. Custom tag dimensions, enclosure shapes, and mounting configurations are available for OEM integrations and large-scale asset tagging programmes. Minimum order for custom dimensions is typically 1,000 pieces.
-
UHF EPC Gen2 (Impinj Monza series, NXP UCODE series), HF ISO 15693 (ICODE SLI-X), and NFC (NTAG213/215/216) are all available across the anti-metal tag range.
-
MOQ is 500 pieces for standard in-stock configurations. Custom size or enclosure variants have an MOQ of 1,000 pieces. Sample sets are available within 5 business days.
